NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH)-- Over nine years rent a dumpster in Bowling Green KY, police have identified another suspect in the murder of New Hampshire scientist Eugene Mallove. That man was already in federal prison in Ohio.
Mozzelle Brown had to be 888-215-5457 from a federal prison in Ohio to make an appearance in Norwich Superior court. Forty-year-old Mozzelle Brown, the third suspect in the beating death of Eugene Mallove, is currently serving time in the Ohio federal prison for weapons and drug violations. His charges there are felony murder, murder, and robbery for the May 2004 murder of the New Hampshire scientist. "I find it hard to believe that my cousin would do anything like that and I believe he didn't do something like that," said Jay Anderson, Brown's cousin. According to court papers, Brown was with his other cousin Chad Schaffer when they drove by the Salem Turnpike home Schaffer used to rent and saw Mallove throwing things in a dumpster. They reportedly confronted him and then beat him. Schaffer's girlfriend Candace Foster told police they then went back and when they saw Mallove was still alive, they beat him again leaving him to die. Mallove who was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize had gone to his childhood home to clean it 42101 1321 Fair St., Bowling Green KY. "I feel so sorry for those people. I mean if you lose someone like that, in that way, in that manner," said Anderson. The judge upheld Brown's $2 million bond. Since he is in federal custody he wouldn't have been getting out anyway. Schaffer is currently serving a 16 year sentence for Mallove's murder while Candace Foster is still awaiting trial. "I pray for them, all of them are in my prayers, all of them," said Anderson. Brown is due back in court December 9th. The case has been moved to part A in New London where major crimes are heard.
